Cincinnati Kings Open Season With 11-9 Loss to Louisville

Cincinnati - The Cincinnati Kings professional indoor soccer team opened defense of its PASL Eastern Division title with an 11-9 loss to division rival Louisville Saturday night at the Cincinnati Gardens.

The Kings fell behind early as Louisville scored just over four minutes into the new season on an unassisted goal by Adam Boyer. Cincinnati answered three minutes later on a goal by midfielder Adam Ross, with an assist from Rashawn Lamar. It was just the first in a series of tie stores, as Cincinnati and Louisville were knotted up at 2 all after the first quarter, and 5-5 at the half. The Kings and Lightning traded goals early in the third before the Kings got two straight goals from University of Cincinnati product Kwame Sarkodie and Miami University's Shawn Rockey to take an 8-6 lead at the end of three. In the fourth, Louisville got two more goals from Boyer to tie the game at 8, then with 6:04 left in the contest, the Lightning's Ross Hopkins gave Louisville the 9-8 lead. A minute and a half later, the Kings tied it again on Allen Eller's third goal of the night, but the Lightning answered with 3:27 remaining with the go-ahead goal from Ryan McDonald to make it 10-9, then added a late insurance goal for the final 11-9 margin.

Louisville had 24 shots on goal to the Kings' 17. The next Kings home game is Saturday, November 26 at the Cincinnati Gardens against Detroit Waza.
