Cincinnati Kings News Release
CINCINNATI (June 2, 2006) - The Cincinnati Kings have this year's World Cup action covered with watch parties at McFadden's and a game that fans can register for at the Kings next two home games.
At the next two Kings home games on June 3 and June 17, fans can visit the Fan Relations tent to randomly draw one of 16 pre-selected World Cup teams expected to progress from the Group Stage to the Knockout Stage. Fans will then be grouped into "teams" based on the country they draw.
Upon entering the Knockout Stage, Kings' players will "captain" each World Cup team in which the fans are "team members". The "team members" will receive regular email updates on the status and outlook of their team's chances, reports on games, and favorite memories from past World Cups from the team "captain."
Field passes to an upcoming Kings home game and a commemorative Cincinnati Kings World Cup t-shirt featuring the winning country's colors will be awarded to the winning World Cup "team members."
The Kings will be hosting Watch Parties at McFadden's located on E. Seventh Street in downtown Cincinnati. The Kings will be hosting fans for all USA games and the World Cup final. The schedule for the World Cup watch parties at McFadden's is:
Monday, June 12 USA versus the Czech Republic at noon
Saturday, June 17 USA versus Italy at 3 p.m.
Thursday, June 22 USA versus Ghana at 10 a.m.
World Cup Final on Sunday, July 9 at 2 p.m.
The Cincinnati Kings are currently in third place in the USL Second Division with 10 points and a 3-2-1 record. The Kings play this Saturday, June 3, at Xavier University at 7:00 p.m. versus the first-place Richmond Kickers.
