EDMONTON, AB - The Edmonton Trapper Baseball Club announced today that right-handed pitcher Christian Parker has been placed on the seven-day disabled list with a right ankle sprain. Edmonton's roster currently stands at 24 players; 12 pitchers, two catchers, five infielders and five outfielders, plus four players (right-hander Seung Song, right-hander Christian Parker, infielder Henry Mateo and catcher Randy Knorr) on the disabled list.

Parker, 28, was 1-3, 8.07 (29.0 IP - 26 ER) in eight outings (seven starts) with the Trappers this season. He split the 2003 season between three teams in the New York Yankees farm system. Parker spent the majority of the campaign with Triple-A Columbus, where the native of Albuquerque, New Mexico went 7-6 with a 4.90 ERA (108.1 IP - 59 ER) in 19 starts with the Clippers. Parker was originally selected by the Montreal Expos in the fourth round of the 1996 draft and was traded to the New York Yankees along with right-hander Jake Westbrook and left-hander Ted Lilly as one of two players to be named later in exchange for right-hander Hideki Irabu on March 22, 2000. He was 14-6 with a 3.13 ERA (204.0 IP - 71 ER) in 2000 for Double-A Norwich, but then missed most of the next two seasons after undergoing right shoulder surgery. Parker was signed by the Expos as a free agent on November 14, 2003, and went 0-0, 1.13 (8.0 IP - 1 ER) in five appearances with Montreal during Spring Training. Parker owns a career 55-41 record with eight saves and a 3.61 ERA (853.0 IP - 342 ER) in 182 minor league appearances (124 starts).
