
Chris Desjardins of Coronado High School wins Gladiators\' Ironman Award

Las Vegas, NV, Sept. 30, 2004 â The Las Vegas Gladiators, in partnership with News 3's "Operation: Football" and US Army, awarded Chris Desjardins of Coronado High School the Gladiators' Ironman Award for the fifth week of the 2004 high school football season.
The Gladiators and US Army, will honor Desjardins by making a $250 donation to the Coronado High School athletic department.
In Coronado's second win of the season, the junior running back led the Cougars to a 33-3 victory over Durango High School on Thursday, September 23. Desjardins led the Cougars offense with 193 rushing yards on 32 carries and one touchdown.
Desjardins also excels off the field well as he holds a 3.5 GPA.
This award recognizes student-athletes who have achieved both on the playing field and in the classroom. These achievements are reflective of the players in the AFL, where the majority of the athletes have skills as two-way performers.
Athletes are nominated for the award by their respective schools based on their weekly performance. Winners are recognized with a certificate presentation at their school with Gladiators' head coach Ron James and News 3 sports anchors Mitch Roberts or Rick Strasser. The presentation is featured on News 3 each week.
The US Army provides direction for detailed planning, preparation and execution of the full range of tasks necessary to provide relevant and ready landpower to the Nation while maintaining the quality of the all-volunteer force.
