CHL Terry Ruskowski Coaches 700th CHL Game
March 16, 2013 - Central Hockey League (CHL) News Release
GLENDALE, AZ - Quad City Mallards Head Coach Terry Ruskowski reached another milestone on Friday night becoming just the third coach to stand behind the bench for 700 CHL games. The Mallards made his 700th game a memorable one beating the Bloomington Blaze 5-3 in front of the home fans at the i wireless Center.
In his first season with the Mallards, Ruskowski joins Doug Sauter and Scott Muscutt as the only men to coach 700 CHL games. In his time in the league, Ruskowski coached the Laredo Bucks for nine seasons, the Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees for one season and the Flock for one campaign. He has posted a 404-227-69 record in his 11 seasons in the league.
The veteran coach is trying to get the Mallards into the post-season where he has pushed his teams in nine of his 10 previous seasons. With Laredo, Ruskowski won the CHL's Ray Miron Presidents' Cup Championship in 2004 and 2006 and played for the title and lost in 2005 and 2007. He was also named the 2006 CHL Coach of the Year while with Laredo.
Earlier this season, Ruskowski became just the fourth man to reach 400 CHL wins.
