CHL Names Sherwood Player of the Month, Vaughn Goaltender of the Month for October

Tulsa left winger Dan Gravelle averaged two point per contest in 14 games last month, leading the Oilers to a record of 9-3-2 while earning selection as the Sherwood CHL Player of the Month for February. Gravelle recorded nearly half (28) of his 60 points this season during February, and also enjoyed eight multiple point outings. In one seven game stretch, Gravelle scored two goals on five different occasions, and in four contests from February 7th to the 13th, recorded seven goals and eight assists. Three of Gravelle's 14 goals during the month came on the power play.

Rio Grande Valley's Jeff Levy and Scott Reid both performed exceptionally in February and have been named co-winners of the Vaughn CHL Goaltender of the Month award. Both netminders earned seven wins in nine outings, and also appear as finalists for both CHL Most Valuable Player and Scott Brower Memorial Trophy (Most Outstanding Goaltender) honors. In five of Levy's seven wins during the month he allowed only one goal, and has the Killer Bees on the verge of clinching a berth in the Ray Miron President's Cup Playoffs in their inaugural season. Levy ranks among the CHL leaders in goals against average (2.27), save percentage (.921) and shutouts (4). Behind consistent outstanding play from San Angelo's Reid, the Saints have already secured a post-season invitation, and hold a one-point edge over Amarillo in the Southwest Division. In February action, Reid faced an average of 39.8 shots per game, and allowed a total of just 16 goals, resulting in a save percentage of .955. February 27th, he turned aside 40 shots in a 3-0 win at Austin to record his third shutout of the season.
