Portland Chinooks News Release
Portland, Oregon. The Portland Chinooks, now 5-4, beat the Vancouver Volcanoes 131-124 on Tuesday night. Portland now leads the series with the Volcanoes 2-1.
The Volcanoes were unable to stop the play of Chinooks guard Byron Johnson, the 7th leading scorer in the IBL, who had a game high of 42 points, and came two shots short of beating the most points scored in a game. Former Benson High School and Western Oregon University star Robert Day, who scored 26 points, also hurt the Volcanoes with 3-pointers in the fourth quarter to stop a run that kept fans on the edge of their seats all the way to the end of the game. Portland State University standouts Blake Walker and Antone Jarrell had 17 points and 12 points, respectively, while Portland State star Will Funn's defense held the Volcanoes.
Chinooks Byron Johnson, Terrance Green and Lincoln Smith are all currently leading scorers in the IBL.
The Chinooks are set to for a three-game weekend, playing at home on Friday, May 20, 2005 against the Tacoma Thunder, on the road to the Central Oregon Hotshots on Saturday, May 21, 2005, and back home on Sunday, May 22, 2005 against the Hotshots.
Tickets for Friday and Sunday's game are available at the door: $10.00 general admission and $5.00 for children 10 & under.
