Chiefs Announce Peanut-Controlled Area
May 20, 2015 - International League (IL1)
Syracuse Mets News Release
The Syracuse Chiefs are pleased to announce a new Peanut-Controlled Area at NBT Bank Stadium. Beginning Friday, May 22nd, Section 218 at NBT Bank Stadium will be designated as peanut-controlled, allowing fans with peanut allergies to enjoy the game. The section is based off the ideas and feedback of Chiefs fans.
"We try to listen to our fans. From bringing in more gluten-free and vegetarian options to this peanut-controlled zone, everything we do is based on fan feedback," said Chiefs General Manager Jason Smorol. "If we can make at least a family or two more comfortable and be able to come and build memories with the Chiefs, we're happy to do it!"
The Peanut-Controlled Area will be power-washed and cleaned daily in an effort to keep peanut contaminants out of the section. The Chiefs' ushers will make sure that no one is allowed to bring any peanut products into this section. The Peanut-Controlled Area will remain in place throughout the remainder of the 2015 season.
Fans with peanut allergies should be aware that NBT Bank Stadium is an outdoor facility and the Chiefs cannot guarantee that peanut particles or dust will get into this section. While the Chiefs will make reasonable efforts to restrict peanut products and to clean in advance, fans with peanut allergies should take all precautions that they customarily take in public places.
Tickets for Section 218 can be specially purchased at syracusechiefs.com, with the section color-coded yellow on the online ticket page. Fans that click through to Section 218 will see a special Peanut-Controlled Area logo.
Tickets for Friday's debut game of the Peanut-Controlled Area against Indianapolis and all other Chiefs games are available and can purchased online at syracusechiefs.com, by calling 315-474-7833 or by visiting the NBT Bank Stadium ticket office during regular business hours.
