Chiefs Announce Pair of Roster Moves
September 5, 2018 - Western Hockey League (WHL)
Spokane Chiefs News Release
The Spokane Chiefs announced two roster moves on Wednesday, including the release of defenseman Dalton Hamaliuk and the addition of forward Cedric Chenier to the Western Hockey League's suspended list.
"Dalton has been a great teammate and representative for our organization," said Chiefs general manager Scott Carter. "With our depth at defense and our overage situation, his release was a decision we had to make. Dalton has a bright future ahead and we wish him the best of luck both on and off the ice."
Hamaliuk, 20, played three full seasons with the Chiefs, piling up 213 career games played (52nd in franchise history), six goals and 31 assists for 37 points. The Leduc, Alta. native was the Chiefs' second-round pick in the 2013 WHL Bantam Draft.
"Cedric has decided to return home," Carter said. "We are disappointed in his decision but wish him the best moving forward."
Chenier, 18, played 37 games as a rookie last season, scoring two goals and four assists for six points. He added one goal in the playoffs.
