Chicoutimi edges Montreal 5 to 4

Montreal January 31st 2010- The Montreal Juniors look to end the month of January on a positive note against the Sagueneens in Chicoutimi this afternoon. Yet, it was Chicoutimi that came out on top as they defeated Montreal by the score of 5 to 4.

In the first period, Antoine Roussel scored a shorthanded goal for his twentieth of the season at 4:30. But the Juniors would take the lead when defenseman Hubert Genest scored back-to-back power play goals at 5:35 and 9:47. Chrsitophe Tremblay would even up the game for Chicoutimi at 13:45. Yet, Matthew Brenton gave the Juniors the lead once more as he scored his eleventh of the year before heading to the second.

Without any scoring in the second, the Sagueneens would take the lead once more with goals by Alexandre Lavoie and Alexis Piette in the third. Dominic Jalbert added the empty-netter for the Sagueneens to seal the win. Matt Provost's goal was bit too late for the Juniors as it came at 19:38 of the third. In the end, the Chicoutimi Sagueneens defeated the Montreal Juniors by the final score of 5 to 4.

Juniors goaltender Jean-Francois Berube took the loss. Sagueneens goalie Robin Gusse stopped 32/36 shots in the win. The Juniors record is now at 24-21-2-3 and the Sagueneens are 19-24-4-4.

Up next, the Juniors will now head to Quebec City to face the Remparts on Wednesday before they head to Drummondville for a Friday night match. The next home match for the Juniors will be on February 12th when they take on the Val-d'Or Foreurs at 7:35PM.
