Allen Wranglers News Release
ALLEN, TX-Chicken pox just became the Allen Wranglers' new good luck charm.
Wranglers' defensive back Frankie Solomon missed last week's contest thanks to the pox, but that didn't stop him from returning an interception for a 26-yard touchdown to clinch the Wranglers' 56-44 win over the Wichita Wild.
"I just did what I had to do," Solomon said.
Solomon had 148 yards returning in the contest, including a kickoff return for a touchdown. The Wranglers also saw standout defense from linebacker James Lancaster who had two sacks and four tackles for losses. Dedrick Poole ran in two touchdowns and accounted for 40 of the team's rushing yards.
Auctions for the team's pink jerseys concluded the night, with Allen police officer Garrett Courtney's jersey going for over $400. At the end of the night, every pink jersey worn by the Wranglers was gone and the team was able to donate over $2,500 back to cancer research from the silent auction alone.
"We are so thankful to be a part of such a giving community," team vice president John Harris said. "We are thankful that Allen helped us do our part to raise money for cancer research and encourage individuals fighting the disease."
The Wranglers move to 5-3 on the season with the win. The team will travel to Amarillo next week to take on the Venom in Lonestar Division action. They return home on May 7th for their second matchup against the Nebraska Danger. Kickoff for that game is set for 7:05 p.m.
