Amarillo Venom News Release

Amarillo, TX - The Amarillo Venom continues to struggle to take care of the football as they turn it over six times in their 23-66 loss to the West Texas Roughnecks.

The Amarillo Venom looked to two new quarterbacks this week in Derek Rasmussen and Ken Johnson Jr., but having only been with the Venom a couple of days both quarterbacks struggled.

Rasmussen got the start for the Venom and gave them the early lead after a 35-yard touchdown pass to Steve Bergeski with 12:54 to go in the second quarter. The lead would be the only Venom lead of the game as Rasmussen would go on to throw five interceptions, later being replaced by Johnson Jr.

Johnson Jr. would hook up with DuVaughn Flagler on his first offensive series from 14 yards out, but the deficit was too much for the Venom to overcome.

The Amarillo Venom will look to bounce back next week against the Allen Wranglers as they host the Wranglers Saturday, April 30th, at Coors Light Field. Fans looking for tickets can call the Venom's office at (806)350-7277.
