GENEVA, ILLINOIS - The Chicago Steel hockey team will close its season this weekend with three games in three days, including home contests Friday night and Sunday afternoon. The 2015-2016 campaign is the Steel's 16th season in the United States Hockey League ("USHL") and first since relocating to Fox Valley Ice Arena in Geneva. Friday's 7:30 p.m. contest against the Muskegon Lumberjacks will be Teacher Appreciation Night. The Steel then visit the Bloomington Thunder on Saturday, before returning home to close out the season with a 3 p.m. Sunday matinee versus the Madison Capitols on Fan Appreciation Day.

Teacher Appreciation Night will celebrate local educators throughout the evening. Seven educators from District 304 in Geneva will participate in a simultaneous ceremonial puck drop and have been provided with complimentary suite tickets for the game. Special videos will be played on the team's state-of-the-art video scoreboard, including thank you messages from Steel players to current and former teachers that have impacted their lives. Educators will take part in on-ice intermission contests including Musical Tires and Score-O.

The Steel's 30th and final home game of the season takes place on Sunday on Fan Appreciation Day. Fans will have the opportunity to walk away with tons of giveaway items, including t-shirts, pennants, posters and more. The afternoon will also feature the entire team signing autographs after the game.

Prior to Sunday's game, a special on-ice presentation at 2:45 p.m. will honor the players' parents and billet (housing) families, thanking them for their involvement and assistance this season. The team will also share their thanks with the Steel fan base throughout the afternoon with video messages, and one Steel fan has been chosen to perform the ceremonial puck drop and represent all fans. This fan, to be announced Sunday, has become a part of the Steel family by showing dedication to the team throughout the season and joining the team at numerous community events.

"It's an exciting way to bring the curtain down on the 2015-2016 season and a chance to say thank you to our fans, parents and housing families," said Steel President Dan Lehv. "It's been fun to witness the reaction of our fans as this organization has progressed throughout the season, and we're already building towards Opening Night in September 2016."
