Chicago Sky News Release

CHICAGO - The WNBA Chicago Sky won two pre-season games last week, defeating Seattle on April 30 and Indiana on May 3 at Milwaukee's Al McGuire Center. This week, the Sky plays its third and final pre-season game against the Los Angeles Sparks, on Thursday, May 8 at 7 p.m. (CDT) at the Sears Centre Arena in Hoffman Estates. The eagerly-awaited rematch of Final Four foes Sylvia Fowles and Naperville native Candace Parker, the top two picks in the 2008 WNBA Draft, will not happen after all. Parker's travel to Knoxville for her graduation at 9 a.m. on Friday, May 9 preclude the Sparks bringing her to Chicago for the game.

Legendary Sparks center Lisa Leslie and Fowles, who recently played together in Beijing with USA Basketball's Women's National Team, will be available together for a special interview session on Wednesday, May 7, 5:30-6 p.m. at the Sky's practice facility. Leslie is returning to play after taking a season off to have her first child.

Fowles made her professional debut in the Sky's first pre-season game, a 66-46 victory over Seattle. Her former LSU teammate and fellow rookie Quianna Chaney was the game's leading scorer with 11 points. The Sky beat the Indiana Fever three nights later, 81-71, with Fowles earning her first WNBA double-double on a game-high 16 points and game-high 11 rebounds.
