CHICAGO, February 6, 2013 - The Chicago Sky today announced their 2013 regular season schedule. Armed with All-Stars Swin Cash and Sylvia Fowles, the Sky enters its eighth season in the WNBA under the leadership of third-year Head Coach Pokey Chatman. Chicago will open the 34 game regular season on Monday May 27, on the road in Phoenix where they will face the Phoenix Mercury in a nationally televised game on ESPN2 at 4pm CDT.
The Sky will play 17 home games at Allstate Arena, opening with an Eastern Conference rival, the Connecticut Sun, who are led by the 2012 WNBA MVP Tina Charles, on Friday, May 31 at 7:30 p.m.
Weekends will be busy at Allstate Arena in 2013 as 12 of the 17 regular-season Sky home games will be played on a Friday (5), Saturday (3) and Sunday (4). Highlights include a matchup with Naperville Central High School graduate Candace Parker and the Los Angeles Sparks on Saturday June 29, and Marshall High School graduate Cappie Pondexter and the New York Liberty on Saturday July 20.
The Sky, who has the #2 pick in the upcoming WNBA Draft will host a showdown against the up-tempo Phoenix Mercury, Diana Taurasi and their #1 draft pick on Wednesday September 11. This game will be nationally televised on ESPN2 at 7pm CDT. The Sky will meet the 2012 WNBA Champions and mid-west rival the Indiana Fever led by Tamika Catchings on Tuesday August 6 at Allstate Arena.
The Sky will host two afternoon Camp Day games in 2013, against the New York Liberty on Wednesday June 26 and against the Washington Mystics on Wednesday July 10.
