
Chicago Fire Takes on Minnesota United FC

The Chicago Fire (0-1-0, 0 points) hit the road to challenge Minnesota United FC (1-1-0, three points) in the first road contest of the season on Saturday, March 17 at 1 p.m. CT (MLS Live/Univision Chicago 1200AM) at TCF Bank Stadium in Minneapolis, Minn.
The Fire enter the match after dropping a 4-3 decision to Sporting Kansas City on March 10. Minnesota United enters the match after a 2-1 road win over Orlando City SC on March 10.
CHICAGO FIRE AT MINNESOTA UNITED FC
The two sides have met just once in MLS play, with Minnesota United taking a 2-1 victory at Toyota Park on Aug. 26, 2017.
Fire goalkeeper Patrick McLain spent the 2017 season as a member of Minnesota United and appeared in the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup Fourth Round match for the Loons.
Minnesota United sporting director Manny Lagos appeared 10 times with the Fire from 1998-99. Additionally, Minnesota United director of player personnel Amos Magee appeared in eight competitive matches for the Fire from 2001-02 and scored the extra time goal in the Fire's 2001 U.S. Open Cup quarterfinal victory.
Minnesota United goalkeeper Matt Lampson spent the 2016 and 2017 seasons as a member of the Fire. Lampson appeared in 42 competitive matches for the Men in Red and holds the club record with a 412-minute shutout streak, set between March 11 and April 16, 2016.
CHICAGO FIRE ANNOUNCES ESPN AS EXCLUSIVE LOCAL MEDIA RIGHTS PARTNER
The Chicago Fire Soccer Club announced ESPN as the club's exclusive media rights holder, executing a three-year rights agreement. ESPN+, the upcoming direct-to-consumer subscription streaming product from ESPN and BAMTECH Media, will be the home for live local coverage of Fire matches in both English and Spanish beginning this season.
ESPN+ will have exclusive coverage of 27 Fire matches in 2018. Because ESPN+ will also be the exclusive home for all MLS LIVE out-of-market matches after it launches, Fire fans - both in Chicago and around the country - will be able to watch the remaining 26 ESPN+ matches anywhere in the US. The Fire's other seven regular season games will be televised nationally on ESPN, FOX Sports and Univision.
Fire fans will enjoy free access to matches until the launch of ESPN+ this spring. During the free access period, MLS LIVE is available for fans at LIVE.MLSsoccer.com and on the MLS Mobile App, Apple TV and Roku, and will provide fans the opportunity to stream up to eight (8) Fire and out-of-market matches each week.
Following the spring launch of ESPN+, Fire games will be available exclusively on ESPN+ as part of the $4.99 monthly subscription. Subscribers will have access to all ESPN+ programming, including the Fire, as well as hundreds of out-of-market MLS matches and thousands of other sporting events and shows.
CHICAGO FIRE SOCCER CLUB AND CHICAGO RED STARS TO HOLD DOUBLEHEADER AT TOYOTA PARK
The Chicago Fire Soccer Club will host a doubleheader with National Women's Soccer League side Chicago Red Stars at Toyota Park on Saturday, March 31. The Fire kick off against the Portland Timbers at 5 p.m. CT, followed by the Red Stars vs. Portland Thorns at 7:15 p.m.
All tickets purchased for the Fire vs. Timbers match will also include a General Admission ticket for the Red Stars game. Tickets for the doubleheader are on sale through the Fire and Red Stars and are available by calling 888-MLS-FIRE or visiting www.chicago-fire.com/tickets.
Fans wishing to make use of the Pub To Pitch bus program for the Chicago Fire match are invited to also stay for the ensuing Red Stars contest. Pub To Pitch riders planning to stay for the Red Stars game MUST RSVP for the return bus back to Chicago by emailing busprogram@chicago-fire.com by Tuesday, March 27. Buses following the Fire match will return to all of their original pubs, and a late bus following the Red Stars contest will make stops at Cleos and The Globe Pub. All buses will leave 20 minutes after the final whistle of each match.
