Chicago Fire FC News Release
CHICAGO, IL (July 31, 2009) - The Chicago Fire is participating in a series of community events across the Chicagoland area over the next week. Throughout the year, the Chicago Fire participates in hundreds of community events to work with youth, charities and other organizations to promote the game of soccer by advocating wellness, healthy lifestyle choices, physical activities and education.
This week's events include an appearance by Gonzalo Segares at Fiesta del Sol, an annual fundraising event focusing on issues such as education, healthcare, and housing. Fire player Marco Pappa will be signing autographs at the Rio Valley Supermarket for V & V Supremo on Monday, August 3rd.

What: Back to School Health Fair
When: Saturday, August 1, 2009
12:00 PM - 2:00 PM
Where: Rauner YMCA
2700 S. Western Avenue, Chicago
Who: The Chicago Fire's mascot, Sparky, will be at this event that provides families with basic medical services for children, including immunizations, physical exams, and diabetes, cholesterol, and dental screenings.
What: Sparky at The Home Depot
When: Saturday, August 1, 2009
10:00 AM - 12:00 PM
Where: The Home Depot
1919 N. Cicero, Chicago
Who: Sparky and the Fire Express will be on hand at the Home Depot store on North Cicero. They will be mingling with customers and listening to music from the DJ.
What: Fiesta del Sol
When: Sunday, August 2, 2009
Festival is from 11:00 AM - 10:00 PM; Sparky and players present from 12:00 PM - 1:30 PM
Where: 1200 W. Cermak Road, Chicago
Who: Sparky and Fire player Gonzalo Segares will be at The Home Depot area at Fiesta del Sol, an annual fundraising event organized by the Pilsen Neighbors Community Council, which focuses on issues such as education, healthcare, housing, and immigrant civil rights. Fiesta del Sol is a non-alcohol and tobacco-free festival that includes music and vendor booths and runs from Thursday, July 30 through Sunday, August 1.
What: V & V Supremo
When: Monday, August 3, 2009
4:00 PM - 5:30 PM
Where: Rio Valley Supermarket
3307 W. 63rd Street, Chicago
Who: Fire player Marco Pappa will be signing autographs at the Rio Valley Supermarket for V & V Supremo.
