Chicago Fire FC News Release
CHICAGO (March 30, 2015) - The Chicago Fire Soccer Club announced Monday that the club has loaned Alec Kann to USL affiliate Saint Louis FC. The Fire retain the option to recall Kann during the loan period.
"Alec went on loan last season and we saw first-hand how beneficial the experience was for him, as he got a full season of games under his belt," said Fire Head Coach and Director of Soccer Frank Yallop. "For Alec to now go down to Saint Louis FC and continue to develop in a competitive environment is a great opportunity."
A native of Decatur, Ga., Kann joined the Fire on March 19, 2013 from the Charleston Battery (USL) where he spent the 2012 season. A four-year standout at Furman University, Kann compiled a 37-16-10 record, 18 shutouts and a 1.00 goals against average in 65 starts during his collegiate career. The 6'4" keeper earned National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) All-South Region honors, All-Southern Conference honors and NSCAA Scholar All-America accolades in 2011 after guiding the Paladins to a 14-4-4 record and NCAA Tournament berth.
In 2014, Kann went on loan to USL side Charlotte Eagles where he appeared in 17 total matches, making 57 saves and recording three shutouts en route to a 6-8-3 record.
Kann joins Fire Homegrown defender Patrick Doody, who was loaned to Saint Louis FC on March 20.
