
Chicago Fire Soccer Club In The Community Update

Chicago Fire FC News Release
CHICAGO, IL (June 14, 2010) - The Chicago Fire are participating in a series of community events across the Chicagoland area over this week. Throughout the year, the Fire participate in hundreds of community events to work with youth, charities and other organizations to promote the game of soccer by advocating wellness, healthy lifestyle choices, physical activities and education.
This week's events feature Chicago Fire head coach Carlos de los Cobos at Irene C. Hernandez Middle School Graduation Ceremony at John Hancock High School today as the honorary graduation presenter. Also today, Fire defender Deris Umanzor will help to kick off CeaseFire 2010. In addition, Fire players will be bartending at The Globe on Wednesday, June 16 and at Nisei Lounge on Thursday, June 17, and the tips from their time behind the bar will be donated to the Chicago Fire Foundation. Lastly, Fire mascot Sparky will be at various events throughout the weekend including Walk Together for LUNGevity and Arlington Park's 3rd Annual Mascot Day.

CeaseFire 2010

Where: 1808 S. Laramie, Cicero, IL 60804 (Field on Laramie between Cermak and 16th St.)
What: Join the Chicago Fire on Monday, June 14 to help kick off CeaseFire Week 2010 and support their campaign to reduce violence! The events run June 14 - 18 and each day will feature fun, safe, and family friendly activities! Click here for more information.
Irene C. Hernandez Middle School Graduation Ceremony

What: Chicago Fire head coach Carlos de los Cobos will be the honorary graduation presenter for the graduating class of Irene C. Hernandez Middle School.
Guest Bartending at The Globe
Who: Chicago Fire Midfielders John Thorrington and Logan Pause
When: Wednesday, June 16; 3:30 - 4:30 PM CT - immediately following South Africa vs. Uruguay match
Where: The Globe Pub - 1934 W Irving Park Rd, Chicago, IL 60613
What: Chicago Fire players will be serving drinks to fans at the Globe Pub, Wednesday, June 16 from 3:30 - 4:30 PM CT immediately following the match between South Africa vs. Uruguay. Join fans and root for your favorite team and then stay for some drinks with your favorite Fire players. All tips from their time behind the bar will benefit the Chicago Fire Foundation.
Guest Bartending at Nisei Lounge - Wrigleyville's Oldest Bar
Who: Chicago Fire goalkeeper Sean Johnson and Fire staff
When: Thursday, June 17; 8:00 - 11:00 PM CT
Where: Nisei Lounge, Wrigleyville - 3439 North Sheffield, Chicago, IL 60657
What: Fire Goalkeeper Sean Johnson, along with Fire front office staff, will be serving drinks to fans at Nisei Lounge - Wrigleyville's Oldest Bar on Thursday, June 17 from 8:00 - 11:00 p.m. All tips from their time behind the bar will benefit the Chicago Fire Foundation. The Fire will also offer several giveaways during the event including Fire scarves, game tickets, jerseys and other fan favorites. This event is open to fans and the public.
Walk Together for LUNGevity
Who: Chicago Fire mascot Sparky
When: Saturday, June 19; 10:00 AM CT
Where: Grove 13 - W Barry Ave and N Lakeshore Drive West near Diversey Harbor at Lincoln Park, Chicago, IL 60657
What: LUNGevity Foundation is a 501c3 nonprofit organization dedicated to raising funds for lung cancer research. On Saturday, June 19, LUNGevity walkers and runners will enjoy the unique experience of meeting Sparky, Chicago Fire's loveable Dalmatian mascot. Sparky will hang out with LUNGevity friends and family at our annual Walk Together for LUNGevity event to be held near Diversey Harbor. He will even be available to take photos with you and your team! This is a great event for children of all ages--bring the entire family out for a beautiful day of celebration as we raise funds for lung cancer research. 3rd Annual Mascot Day at Arlington Park

What: Join Sparky and his mascot friends on Saturday, June 19th as Arlington Park welcomes back its 3rd Annual Mascot Day. Mascots from your favorite local Chicago sports teams and businesses will take part a race on the track and a special meet-and-greet session after the race.
