
Chicago Fire Head to Philadelphia for Back-To-Back Matches against the Union

MEN IN RED CONTINUE QUEST FOR LAMAR HUNT U.S. OPEN CUP
The Chicago Fire (6-12-4, 22 points) take on the Philadelphia Union (6-13-5, 23 points) in back-to-back matches this week, first taking on the Union in the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup semifinal at PPL Park in Chester, Pa. on Wednesday, Aug. 12 at 6:30 p.m. CT. The Fire will cover the cost of match tickets for traveling supporters who use the link found here. The match will be available via live webstream at www.chicago-fire.com.
The Men in Red then return to MLS action against the Union at PPL Park on Sunday, Aug. 16 at 6 p.m. CT (Fox Sports 1/ESPN Deportes 97.5 FM).
CHICAGO FIRE vs. PHILADELPHIA UNION
- The Fire are 5-5-4 all-time against the Union in MLS play. In those matches, the Men in Red have recorded a 2-3-1 record at PPL Park.
- Since 1998, the Fire have compiled a 39-12-4 record in Open Cup play, reaching the semifinal round twelve times and the final six times.
- The Fire previously hoisted the coveted Dewar Trophy four times, in 1998, 2000, 2003 and 2006.
- Fire captain Jeff Larentowicz returns to his hometown for the first time this season. The Philadelphia, Pa. native graduated from Chestnut Hill Academy where he lettered in soccer, basketball and golf. The Brown University graduate won back-to-back national championships with FC Delco Arsenal in 2002 and 2003.
- Fire defender Greg Cochrane also hails from nearby Holland, Pa. where he was a four-year starter at Council Rock High School South and represented FC Delco Hammerheads for seven years.
- Union Team Manager Jim Curtin was a member of the Fire for the first seven seasons of his professional career. Selected in the third round (29th overall) of the 2001 MLS SuperDraft, Curtin made 151 MLS Regular Season appearances for the Men in Red, winning the 2003 and 2006 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup championships and was named a 2004 MLS All-Star during his time with the Fire. In a special ceremony, Curtin retired as a member of the Fire on April 4, 2014.
CHICAGO FIRE TO HOST FIFTH ANNUAL WHITE PARTY
The Chicago Fire Soccer Club will host the Fifth Annual White Party, benefiting the Chicago Fire Foundation on Thursday, August 13 from 7:30 p.m. to 11:30 p.m. CT at the MCA Warehouse (1747 West Hubbard Street, Chicago Ill.).
Previously touted by the Chicago Tribune as 'one of Chicago's top parties,' the White Party is the Chicago Fire Foundation's most prolific event, selling out each of the past three years.
The White Party features guests in their most stylish white attire enjoying a premium open bar featuring Effen and Makers Mark, food from various Chicagoland restaurants, including Bar Siena, Blackfinn Ameripub, Petterino's, Wow Bao, Public House, Mercadito, Sushi X, Woodies Flat, Zed 451, Rockit Bar and Grill, Garrett Popcorn, Sweet Street as well as Mercat serving exclusively in the VIP room.
Live entertainment will be provided by DJ Step, the Fire's DJ and Musical Director.
After the event, free shuttles will be provided to the after party at Parliament (324 West Chicago Avenue).
Tickets to the White Party begin at $60 for general admission. VIP tickets have sold out. All proceeds from the event will support the Chicago Fire Foundation's community efforts.
