Chicago Fire FC News Release
CHICAGO - Chicago Fire FC today announced that the Club has acquired defender Allan Arigoni (pronounced: ah-ree-GO-nee) on loan from FC Lugano for the 2024 season with an option to purchase. Arigoni will occupy an international position on the roster, pending receipt of his P-1 Visa and International Transfer Certificate (ITC). Per Club and MLS policy, additional terms of the deal were not disclosed.
"We have been able to closely evaluate Allan during his time with our partner club, FC Lugano," said Chicago Fire FC Sporting Director Georg Heitz. "Adding a right back during this window was a priority for us, and we believe that Allan's technical and physical abilities are well suited for the League and our game model."
Arigoni, 25, joined FC Lugano in July 2022, ahead of the team's 2022-2023 Swiss Super League season. Since joining the Bianconeri, Arigoni made 55 appearances (47 starts), including 10 appearances (nine starts) in the UEFA Europa League and scored three goals as a defender. He also participated in five Swiss Cup matches, scoring two goals in the 2022-23 campaign.
Prior to signing with Lugano, Arigoni played in the Grasshopper Club Zürich Academy since 2016 before signing his first professional contract with Grasshopper Club Zürich in August 2017. He made his professional debut in a 1-0 Swiss Super League win against FC Zürich in February 2018. Arigoni remained with the Grasshopper following the club's relegation in 2019 and was an instrumental part of the team's promotion back to the Swiss Super League in 2021.
At the international level, Arigoni represented Switzerland at the U-18, U-19 and U-20 levels.
