Chicago Fire Academy's Mauricio Pineda Named to United States U-18 Roster
Bolingbrook, Ill. native to take part in 2015 Copa Chivas Internacional
CHICAGO (Jan. 27, 2015) - Chicago Fire Academy defender Mauricio Pineda has been selected by United States Under-18 Men's National Team Head Coach Javier Perez for the 2015 Copa Chivas Internacional in Mexico.
The U.S. has been drawn into Group A and will face Monarcas Morelia on Jan. 30, Cruzeiro Esporte Clube on Jan. 31, Club Tijuana on Feb. 2 and Club Deportivo Universidad CatÃ"lica on Feb. 3.
The top eight seeds advance to the tournament's quarterfinal stage, which begins Feb. 5. That is followed by the semifinals on Feb. 6 and the title game on Feb. 7.
Pineda most recently took part in the U-18s' December camp in Marbella, Spain, scoring twice in two matches against the German U-18 squad. Additional information on the tournament can be found here.
