CHARLOTTE, N.C. - Even though the Charlotte Checkers season ended in May the Checkers continue to make appearances in the community. Community involvement remains a priority for the front office staff and the Checkers mascot Chubby.

Here's an updated list of some of the events Chubby Checker and front office staff have participated in and a listing of future appearances:

Apr. 29 - Chubby visited Presbyterian Hospital's Kids in Motion event. The Kids in Motion event is put on by the Junior League of Charlotte for local children/families to promote active lifestyles and healthy living/eating.

May 11 - Chubby appeared at Chick-fil-a's Cop-On-Top event. Cop-On-top raises funds to benefit The Special Olympics of North Carolina.

May 15 - Chubby appeared at the Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA) 2007 Muscle Team Silent/ Live Auction event to benefit children and adults who are suffering with muscular dystrophy.

May 16 & 23 - Chubby appeared at both McKee Elementary and Weddington Middle School to celebrate the highest contributions for Pennies for Patients. Pennies and Patients benefits the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.

May 19 - Chubby appeared at the GREAT STRIDES WALK in downtown Charlotte to benefit Cystic Fibrosis.

May 25-26 - Chubby appeared at Speed Street to interact with fans and spectators at Mascot Mania and ConAgra stage.

May 30 - Front office staff volunteered at Piney Grove Elementary School in support of Junior Achievement.

June 2 - Chubby will appear at WTVI Family Day outing for children in the local community.

June 3 - Chubby will visit Presbyterian Hospital's Buddy Kemp Caring House. June 3rd is the National Cancer Survivor's Day. Each year, Buddy Kemp Caring House in Charlotte throws a party in honor of survivors and their families.

June 4 - Front office staff will be volunteering at Merry Oaks and Hickory Grove Elementary Schools in support of Junior Achievement.

June 9 - Chubby is set to appear at the Dog Walk Against Cancer to benefit the Canine Café of Charlotte.

June 23 - Chubby will attend the FedEx Express (Fed-Idol Season II) event. All proceeds from the event benefit March of Dimes.
