
Checkers Add Netminder Muse

CHARLOTTE, N.C. - Charlotte Checkers head coach and general manager Jeff Daniels announced today the team has signed goaltender John Muse to a two-way American Hockey League contract.
Muse, 22, completed his fourth season at Boston College in 2010-11, posting a 27-6-1 record, with a 2.30 goals against average and .920 save percentage. He was then signed to an amateur tryout by the Portland Pirates and won his only decision, a 3-2 shootout victory over Albany, on April 9.
The Massachusetts native was starting goaltender for all four seasons at Boston College and led the Eagles to National Championships in 2008 and 2010. He had an 8-1 record in NCAA Tournament play, 21-2 record in overall postseason play and holds school records for games played (144) and saves (3,696), while ranking second in wins (89).
Muse was named Hockey East Goaltender of the Month for November, 2010, Hockey East Defensive Player of the Week three times (Oct. 11, Nov. 22, Feb. 14) and was named to the All-Hockey East First Team and the Hockey East All-Tournament Team in 2011. He holds a career record of 89-39-16 with a 2.40 GAA and .914 save percentage.
