Chattanooga Steamers Announce First Tryout Camp

Chattanooga, TN-06-28-05-The Chattanooga Steamers professional basketball club announced its first open tryout camp earlier today after successful negotiations with an arena venue in Huntsville, AL. The camp will be held in Huntsville, at the Lakewood Community Center on August 6th and 7th.

This will be the first tryout camp held by the Steamers, who are in the American Basketball League's 4th Division. Asked about the decision to hold a camp in Huntsville, President and General Manager of the Steamers stated that, "We are hoping to draw from a large pool of prospective players. Holding a camp in Huntsville will draw players from a large segment of the south, including Tennessee, Mississippi, and of course, Alabama."

The Huntsville camp is the first of three camps planned by the Steamers. "Two additional open tryout camps are planned and will be announced as soon as negotiations with arena officials in those locations are completed," said Tyner. "We also have to take into account the availability of our team physician and athletic trainers when settling on the dates for tryouts," he added.

Prospective players wishing to take part in Chattanooga Steamers tryout camps should contact John Tyner at john@teamtyner.com. An entry fee of $150.00 will be charged for all players registering for the tryout camp.
