Steamers Announce Venue
July 28, 2005 - American Basketball Association (ABA)
Chattanooga Steamers News Release
Chattanooga, TN 07/28/05-The Chattanooga Steamers have reached agreement with the University of Tennessee-Chattanooga concerning the Steamers' choice of venue for the upcoming American Basketball Association season.
The Chattanooga Steamers will play their eighteen home games at Maclellan Gymnasium, located on the university campus. Negotiations to secure the venue concluded on Tuesday, according to team President John Tyner. The gymnasium was regarded an ideal location for the team because of the size of the arena, which seats over 4,000.
"Maclellan has a great basketball history, and we hope to continue the tradition," said Tyner, referring to the 1977 NCAA Division II National Championship, when UT-Chattanooga defeated Randolph-Macon College 71-62.
For further information regarding the Chattanooga Steamers, Tyner may be contacted at chattanoogasteamers@mindspring.com.
Note: OurSports Central no longer actively covers the American Basketball Association (ABA) as a professional league due in part to its inability to publish and play a schedule and the transitory nature of many of its teams.
