
Chase De Leo Inks Contract with Anaheim

Portland, Ore. - The Portland Winterhawks, proud member club of the Western Hockey League, shared today that alumnus Chase De Leo has signed a two-year, two-way contract with the Anaheim Ducks.
De Leo, 26, originally played for the Ducks organization from 2018 to 2021, spending the majority of his stay with the their American Hockey League affiliate San Diego Gulls. In 154 games with the Gulls, De Leo currently ranks fourth in goals (45), assists (70), points (115), and seventh in appearances among San Diego's all-time franchise leaders.
The La Mirada, Calif. native will make his return to The Golden State after spending last season with the Utica Comets (AHL). The 5-foot-9, 185-pound forward led the Comets in scoring with 56 points (21G-35A) in 55 games. He also recorded three points in five Calder Cup Playoff games and dressed in two games with the New Jersey Devils during the 2021-22 campaign.
Prior to turning pro, De Leo played four seasons in Portland from 2011 to 2015. The former ninth-round selection in the 2010 WHL Draft helped the Winterhawks claim their third Ed Chynoweth Cup during the 2012-13 season and he concluded his junior career with back-to-back 80+ point campaigns. Boasting 251 points in 279 games with Portland, De Leo currently ranks third in scoring among American-born players in Winterhawks history and he is one of just 19 'Hawks all-time to surpass 250 career points during his tenure in the Rose City.
De Leo also played for Team USA at the 2015 IIHF World Junior Hockey Championship, scoring one goal in five tournament games. He was originally selected in the fourth round (#99 overall) of the 2014 NHL Draft by Winnipeg.
