Charpentier Added to Mallards Blueline

Moline, IL-The Quad City Mallards today announced that the team has agreed to terms with defenseman Bryce Charpentier (pronounced shar-pen-tee-ay) for the 2006-07 season. Charpentier has appeared in 135 professional games, all in the ECHL. He has accumulated 518 professional penalty minutes and 13 points on a goal and 12 assists.
Last season, Charpentier appeared in 28 games during his second season with the Florida Everblades. The Temecula, California native recorded one point (an assist) with 52 penalty minutes for the 2005-06 Everblades.
During the 2004-05 campaign, Charpentier led the Everblades in penalty minutes with 149 despite playing just 40 games with the team. He joined the Florida franchise after recording 47 penalty minutes in 12 games during an early season stint with the Peoria Rivermen.
Charpentier kicked off his pro career in 2003-04 as a member of the Long Beach Ice Dogs. In 29 games in his home state, he recorded one point (an assist) with 120 penalty minutes. He finished the season as a member of the Toledo Storm. With the Storm, he tallied 150 penalty minutes in 26 games while also scoring four points (all assists).
"A major off-season priority for us was to add toughness to our defense," said Mallards President Tim Taylor. "Bryce certainly fills the bill. He's a big man who doesn't mind playing a rough style."
"Bryce fills a void for us on the back end," said Mallards General Manager and Head Coach Brian Curran. "He's very excited about coming to the Quad Cities, and I'm looking forward to working with him."
Charpentier joins Jami Yoder, Andrei Lupandin, Steve MacIntyre and Marcus Reszka on the Mallards blueline. The team also has forwards Chad Woollard, Glenn Detulleo, Patrick Nadeau, Jesse Rycroft and Drew Otten under contract for 2006-07. Goaltender Jason Tapp will return along with rookie netminder Scott Gray.
