Charlotte to Host Doubleheader on Friday Night

Charlotte, NC - The Eagles and Lady Eagles with host their first doubleheader of the 2014 season this Friday June 13 th as the Lady Eagles take on the Lady Dayton Dutch Lions and the Charlotte Eagles take on Orange County Blues FC.

In the first game of the doubleheader the Lady Eagles will face the Lady Dutch Lions starting at 5:30. The Lady Eagles currently sit at 2nd place in the Southeastern Conference of the USL W-League with seven points. The only team currently ahead of them in their conference are the Carolina Elite Cobras with 10 points. The Dayton Dutch Lions only trail the Lady Eagles by one point and are currently tied with the Gulf Coast Texans.

The Lady Eagles last game came against conference leaders Carolina Elite Cobras where the two teams played to a 0-0 draw. Robyn Jones recorded her second shutout of the season against the Cobras, including nine second half saves. Macky Wingo led the offense with three shots on goal. Previous to their game against the Cobras, the Lady Eagles traveled to Dayton for a pair of games against the Dutch Lions.

In the two teams last matchup the Eagles lost to the Lions 1-0 with Dayton's goal coming from Rose Lavelle, who currently leads the W-League with 16 points in just 3 games played. In the Dayton Dutch Lions last game they faced the Gulf Coast Texans and took a 5-0 loss on the road.

The second match of the night will feature the Charlotte Eagles as they take on the Orange County Blues FC. The clubs last met when the Eagles traveled to Irvine, CA and defeated the Blues 2-0 on goals from Drew Yates and Ben Newnam.

Charlotte's most recent game saw them face the Oklahoma City Energy FC where the game ended in a 1-1 draw. This snapped the Eagles' three-game losing streak. Charlotte's equalizer came from Wells Thompson who received a through ball from Fred Sekyere and slotted it by OKC's goalkeeper. Fresh in from Chicago, Alec Kann stood tall after the Eagles evened the score and helped the hosts to a well-earned point at home.

The Orange County Blues will make a stop in Wilmington tonight before coming to Charlotte. They will face the Hammerheads, who two weeks ago who defeated the Eagles 2-1.
