AKRON, OH - Former first baseman Charlotte Morgan is the 26th player to earn the coveted Akron Racers IMPACT Award. Over just two seasons (2013-2014), although two of her best years as a pro, Morgan's greatest impact, was perhaps, not what she did on the field but rather what she did off the field. She stood tall in the Racers clubhouse and led by example that eventually carried Akron to their third shot at the Cowles Cup in 2014.

"Charlotte Morgan defined and redirected our game when she came to Akron," remarked Racers GM Joey Arrietta. "She commanded the respect that champions are made of and brought an undeniable work ethic. She just made us whole."

Before Morgan arrived, the Racers struggled through the 2012 season that saw the fewest wins recorded in franchise history with a lopsided 14-30 season. Morgan signed as free agent having spent her first three seasons with the USSSA Pride. She collected a ring in 2010 as a member of the Pride and anchored the infield that led the Pride to the league's best regular season records twice.

Upon arrival, Morgan became a part of a core group of leaders that helped instill a championship mentality in Akron and a toughness to record numerous come-from- behind victories. The Racers enjoyed a modest increase in 2014, reaching the .500-mark for the first time in three years with a 24-24 record. That season, Morgan also helped guide Akron to the NPF Championship Series against her former team for the first time since 2005.

In 2013, Morgan led the Racers in six major statistical categories with a .302 batting average, a .508 slugging percentage, a .425 on-base percentage, 31 RBI, 7 home runs and 5 doubles. In the Racers red and black, Morgan played 75 games, compiling a .312 average, 62 RBI, 32 runs scored, 10 doubles and 14 home runs. Morgan, defensive skills were showcased at first base surrendering just three errors in her final 39 games to register a .980 fielding percentage.

With Morgan's influence in the middle of Akron's lineup in 2014, the Racers pounded their way to the second best team average in franchise history with a .271 average. Morgan helped that 2014 offense write itself into the NPF record books hitting the 18th most home runs in league history with 38, the 15th most RBI with 196 and 15th most runs scored with 224, recreating Akron's offense.

The season-long celebration of the Racers 15th Season of Play will reach its apex the weekend of July 15-17 when the Dallas Charge come to Akron. Among other festivities, the IMPACT honorees will all be in town to be recognized in an on-field ceremony which includes the presentation of a special commemorative jersey bearing their name and the number.
