
Charlotte FC Welcomes MexTour on October 27 at Bank of America Stadium

Charlotte, NC - The 2021 MexTour is headed to the Queen City.
The Federación Mexicana de Fútbol (FMF), Soccer United Marketing (SUM) and Charlotte FC today announced that the Mexican National Team will battle South American side Ecuador on Wednesday, October 27, at Charlotte's Bank of America Stadium - presented by Allstate. This match, the fifth of the 2021 MexTour, is being staged in partnership with Major League Soccer expansion side Charlotte FC and its parent company, Tepper Sports and Entertainment.
"As we prepare for the debut of Charlotte FC in 2022, we couldn't be more thrilled to partner with the Federación Mexicana de Fútbol (FMF) and Soccer United Marketing (SUM) to bring more soccer to the Carolinas," said Charlotte FC President Nick Kelly. "The 19th edition of the MexTour will provide new and existing fans with the opportunity to enjoy an exciting match between premier national teams at Bank of America Stadium, the home of Charlotte FC."
Tickets for the match will go on sale to the general public on Monday August 23 at 10 a.m. local time on Ticketmaster. Fans in attendance will be required to adhere to all MexTour, stadium and local health guidelines. Fans are encouraged to pre-register for future ticket information HERE.
Bank of America Stadium, which is undergoing renovations that will transform Charlotte FC's home into an elite venue for Major League Soccer, has welcomed the Mexican National Team on several occasions. The last MexTour match was in 2010 against Iceland in front of 63,227 fans.ÃÂ Mexico played twice at the venue as part of the Concacaf Gold Cup, last time being June 23, 2019, in a 3-2 win over Martinique in a group stage match.
Ecuador, one of South America's classic squads, recently reached the quarterfinals of the 2021 CONMEBOL Copa America.ÃÂ Mexico and Ecuador have faced each other 24 times, with Mexico winning 16, drawing five and losing three.ÃÂ In those games, Mexico has outscored Ecuador 42-23.ÃÂ The two teams last met on September 6, 2019, in a MexTour match at Arlington's AT&T Stadium won by Mexico 3-2.
As part of the annual Mexican National Team tour, Mexico has played four matches thus far in 2021, averaging nearly 50,000 fans across Dallas, Atlanta, Nashville, and Los Angeles.

Mexican National Team U.S. Tour matches have become one of the most popular events within the sport, with an average of approximately 60,000 fans per match in the last decade.ÃÂ The Mexican National Team matches allow the team to prepare for important competitions like the FIFA World Cup and Concacaf Gold Cup and reach their fervent fan base across North America. A 2020 study by Equation Research identified 60 million fans of the Mexican National Team in the United States, contributing to the rising attendances and home team environment in cities throughout the country.
The Mexican National Team U.S. Tour, sponsored by adidas, Allstate, AT&T, Bud Light Seltzer, Cinnamon Toast Crunch, Gran Centenario, Honey Nut Cheerios, Lucky Charms, Procter & Gamble, Nissan, The Home Depot, and Wells Fargo, will visit various cities across the United States in 2021 and be broadcast nationally on the Univision family of networks and Fútbol de Primera Radio Network.
