Charlotte Eagles Face Pittsburgh In Semi-Final Playoff Series

(Charlotte, NC) - The Charlotte Eagles wrapped up the 2006 regular season with a second place seed heading into the USL-2 playoff semi-finals. Charlotte will face the number three seed Pittsburgh Riverhounds in a two-game aggregate goal series. Game one of the series will be played in Pittsburgh, PA at Falconi Field on Friday, August 18th with kickoff at 7:05 pm. Game two of the series will be played in Charlotte, NC at the Eagles home, Waddell Stadium, on Saturday, August 19th. Kickoff for the Charlotte game is slated for 7:00 pm.
The Charlotte Eagles finished off the 2006 regular season with a 8-4-8 record for 32 points, while Pittsburgh and Cincinnati finished just two points behind. Pittsburgh got the second seed with their 2-2-0 record against Cincinnati in the regular season. Charlotte and Pittsburgh faced one another two times during the regular season. Charlotte came out on top in both occasions with a 1-0 win at home on June 24th and a 2-1 win in Pittsburgh on July 20th. With a win in the semi-final playoff series, the Eagles would move on to the USL-2 National Championship match and a chance to defend their 2005 title.
The Richmond Kickers took the commanding first seed into playoffs with a 13-3-4 record for 43 points in the regular season. Richmond and Cincinnati will pair off in their two-game semi-final series on Friday in Richmond and finish up on Sunday in Cincinnati.
Fans interested in attending the Charlotte Eagles home semi-final match on Saturday, August 19th are encouraged to purchase their tickets in advance and save $2.00 on each ticket (must be purchased by midnight Friday to receive the discount). Playoff tickets are being sold at the same great regular season rates of $10 for adults and $7 for youth at the gate. Season Tickets are not valid for the playoffs.
