Charleston RiverDogs News Release

CHARLESTON, SC - To help introduce one of the Charleston RiverDogs' more unique partnerships, co-owner Mike Veeck and Charlie the RiverDog will board a CARTA bus at 5 o'clock Monday morning, Jan. 22.

CARTA (Charleston Area Regional Transportation Authority) Express begins with Veeck and the RiverDogs' loveable mascot as the service offers Charleston residents an opportunity to try the comfortable, relaxing commute with the "First Ride with Mike Veeck and Charlie the RiverDog."

Beginning at 5 a.m., the first 30 people to sign in at the CARTA Express North Charleston Super K-Mart stop will ride to the three convenient downtown Charleston stops with Veeck and Charlie, complete with autographs, complimentary breakfast, a CARTA Express Relax Pack with a reusable CARTA Express mug featuring handy route information, goodies from the RiverDogs and discounts from area partners.

In addition, one lucky rider will win a year's pass on all CARTA routes and a RiverDogs Friday night Fireworks Pack, which includes tickets to all Friday night RiverDog games during the 2007 season, which begins April 5.

Also, during the CARTA Express Launch Week that runs through Thursday (Jan. 25), CARTA challenges riders to "Find the Sleeping RiverDog" to win a daily giveaway item from CARTA and the Charleston RiverDogs.

To win, riders must spot Charlie the RiverDog snoozing on an Express bus, nudge Charlie, and say out loud for all riders to hear, "I like CARTA Express because it is (riders choose one response) convenient/comfortable/relaxing/easy to use."
