Charleston Battery to host four home games on FOX Soccer Channel in 2008

Charleston, SC - United Soccer Leagues has set the USL on Fox Soccer Channel schedule for the 2008 season; the Charleston Battery will host four games live from Blackbaud Stadium this year, May 9 vs Miami, June 20 vs Minnesota, August 29 vs Puerto Rico & September 19 vs Carolina. The full schedule features 22 regular season USL-1 matches and three USL-1 postseason fixtures.

"This is excellent news, not just for the Charleston Battery but also for our fans, sponsors and marketing partners," said Andrew Bell, Charleston Battery Director of Soccer and Stadium Operations. "FOX Soccer Channel is the TV destination for soccer fans in the US and we're excited to once again showcase Blackbaud Stadium, and our Lowcountry soccer fans."

The schedule opens with the Montreal Impact visiting the Atlanta Silverbacks on April 25 followed by a championship rematch between the Silverbacks and the champion Seattle Sounders May 2, only this time in Atlanta. The new Saputo Stadium (Montreal) will make its Fox Soccer Channel debut May 30 when Montreal plays host to the Portland Timbers.

Postseason action on FSC will feature a Second Leg match from one of the USL-1 Quarterfinals on Sunday, September 28. A Semifinal Second Leg affair will be featured the following week on Sunday, October 5 with the USL First Division Championship wrapping up the schedule on Saturday, October 11.

USL Breakaway, the behind-the-scenes feature show that debuted in 2006, will return for a third consecutive season with three more episodes airing in the latter portion of the schedule - dates still to be determined.

The full USL First Division regular season schedule is expected to be announced within the coming 7-10 days.
