April 24, 2015 - NBA G League (G League)
Cleveland Charge News Release
The Canton Charge, presented by SecureData 365 and powered by the Cleveland Cavaliers, enjoyed a banner franchise year in 2014-15. Along with their successes on the court in tallying the most wins in franchise history, the Charge also saw prominent growth off the court as a business:
- The Charge set a franchise record for victories with their 31-19 regular season record and advanced to the semifinal round for the second time in four seasons. Canton was guided to their fourth-straight playoff appearance by their top scoring defense in the NBA Development League, with first-year Head Coach Jordi Fernandez's team holding opponents to 95.2 points per game.
- Charge players Will Cherry (Cleveland Cavaliers), Jorge Gutierrez (Milwaukee Bucks), and Arinze Onuaku (Minnesota Timberwolves) all received NBA Call-Ups this season. The Cleveland Cavaliers assigned Alex Kirk five times for 13 games and Joe Harris 12 times for 15 games (including playoffs).
- The Charge spent a franchise record 847 hours in the community this year, working with organizations with strong ties throughout the Northeast Ohio community such as the Pro Football Hall of Fame, Akron-Canton Regional Food Bank, Canton City Schools, United Way of Stark County, the LeBron James Family Foundation, Aultman Hospitals, and Akron Children's Hospital.
- A new franchise record 72,345 came out to the Memorial Civic Center to support the Charge this season, including a single-game best 4,119 on Fan Appreciation Night (4/3) and 4,032 to see the Charge win on Cavs Night (1/31), both exceeding a sellout (3,942).
- Overall ticket revenue was up over 40% this season, with significant increases in single game ticket revenue and our group programs from last year.
- Corporate Partnerships increased significantly with the addition of 17 new partners, including presenting sponsor SecureData 365. These new relationships combined with founding partners in Aultman Hospitals and Aultcare along with other returning and new partners, buoyed corporate sponsorships by more than 50%.
The Charge will begin their fifth year in Canton for the 2015-16 NBA Development League season, tipping off in November. For information on how to get
