CORPUS CHRISTI, TX - Greg Chapman will continue to lace up the skates next year in Winona, Minnesota after he committed to playing at St. Mary's University for the 2012-2013 season.

"First of all losing Chapman will be extremely difficult to replace," said head coach Justin Quenneville. "He is a true leader and competitor in every sense of the way and SMU will be inheriting a special player."

In his only year with the Corpus Christi IceRays, the defenseman recorded five assists in just 32 games while picking up 85 penalty minutes.

"Not too many players come along with the elements that he possesses at a young age," Quenneville added. "But it is exciting to find hockey players like Chapman that play with so much heart and battles for his team every shift. He took his time throughout this process in deciding what program would best fit his goals. We wish him nothing but the best of luck and success in his future under the experienced coaching of Bill Moore and Ryan Egan."

St. Mary's University is a D3 school that plays in the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) and goes up against the likes of St. Thomas, Hamline, Gustavus Adolphus, and Concordia.
