Published on August 4, 2005 under Canadian Football League (CFL) News Release
OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE MONTH
Player Name: Dave Dickenson #12 - B.C. Lions
Player Position: Quarterback
Highlights:
In five games Dave Dickenson has attempted 175 passes and completed 131 for a completion average of 74.9%. He has compiled 1,635 yards passing and 11 touchdowns, while only throwing three interceptions. Dickenson has also rushed the ball 26 times for 161 yards.
Game Notes:
If his 74.9% (first five games) completion average is maintained through the season, Dickenson will improve on his "highest pass completion percentage - all time regular season" of 66%
As well as being the most efficient passer of all time in the CFL he has other attributes, which include tremendous leadership abilities, good running skills and command of defenses.
Dickenson also has the ability to manage the game, which has resulted in the B.C. Lions winning the first five games of the season.
He is always trying to find a way to succeed. Dickenson is a winner.
1st Runner Up: Ricky Ray #15 - Edmonton Eskimos
2nd Runner Up: Nealon Greene #15 - Saskatchewan Roughriders
Judge: Bob Krouse
DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE MONTH
Player Name: Michael Fletcher #2 - Toronto Argonauts
Player Position: Linebacker
Highlights:
Fletcher has two special team tackles, one fumble recovery, one forced fumble, two interceptions, one quarterback sack and 30 individual tackles.
Game Notes:
Fletcher is a defensive back/linebacker hybrid that has enabled him to use his size speed and instincts to his advantage. He has always has the ability of knowing were he is supposed to go.
Fletcher is tough, disruptive and athletic, which makes him an integral part of the Argonaut defense.
Fletcher has had an outstanding month.

Judge: Bob Krouse
LINEMAN OF THE MONTH
Player Name: Anthony Collier #97 - Ottawa Renegades
Player Position: Defensive Lineman
Highlights:
Collier tied a CFL record with five sacks in one game vs. the B.C. Lions. He also had an interception vs. Saskatchewan which he handed off to Kyries Hebert for a touchdown. Collier has five tackles, six sacks, one interception and pass knock down one month into the season.
Game Notes:
During the first month of the CFL, defensive linemen have been dominating. Several names come to mind for playing outstanding football in the trenches. Collier was selected for his consistency during the month of July.
1st Runner Up: Rashad Jeanty #9 - Edmonton Eskimos
2nd Runner Up: Demetrious Maxie #91 - Calgary Stampeders
Judge: Ellison Kelly
SPECIAL TEAMS PLAYER OF THE MONTH
Player Name: Tony Tompkins #14 - Edmonton Eskimos
Player Position: Wide Receiver
Highlights:
Tompkins leads the League with 26 punt returns for 557 yards and two touchdowns. He is averaging 21.7 yards per return.
Game Notes:
A great player in the making, Tompkins has played remarkably well in his rookie campaign. The Stephen F. Austin Alma mater has altered the kicking game plans of his opponents in every game. Teams must shorten the field and kick to the sidelines to avoid the speedy returner. His elusiveness and ability to cut back into open lanes is outstanding.
1st Runner Up: Corey Holmes #19 - Saskatchewan Roughriders
2nd Runner Up: Sandro DeAngelis #12 - Calgary Stampeders
Judge: Ellison Kelly
