Central Valley Fuego FC News Release
FRESNO, CA - Central Valley Fuego FC proudly announces the signing of seasoned defender Robert Coronado for the upcoming 2024 season. Coronado's addition to the squad marks a significant milestone for the team as they fortify their defensive lineup with his wealth of experience and expertise.
Coronado's journey in professional soccer showcases his commitment and talent. Having previously played for Rio Grande Valley FC, Coronado's defensive prowess has been evident throughout his career. His tenure with Rio Grande Valley FC included multiple achievements, notably being one of the 11 players retained for the 2023 USL Championship season.
Originally from La Habra, California, Coronado spent his collegiate soccer career from 2014 to 2018 at Cal State Fullerton. He then transitioned to the professional level in 2019 when he joined USL Championship side Rio Grande Valley FC, marking the start of an impressive trajectory in his soccer journey.
During his time in the USL Championship, Coronado made an appearance in a total of 102 matches, scoring 6 goals, providing 9 assists, and accumulating over 6600 minutes of playtime. His consistent performance and leadership on the field have earned him a reputation as a reliable and formidable defender within the league.
Following his tenure with Rio Grande Valley FC, Coronado continued to make his mark in the USL Championship, joining OKC Energy FC in 2021. However, it was his return to Rio Grande Valley FC in 2022 that further solidified his standing as a seasoned defender within the league.
Coronado made his first appearance with Fuego FC in the season opener this past weekend, contributing to the 2-1 win against Tormenta FC, playing 86 minutes. Fans can look forward to seeing the team take on Union Omaha for the home opener at Fresno State Soccer Stadium on Saturday, March 16.
