 Corvallis Knights

Central Michigan's Williams signs with Knights

September 18, 2014 - West Coast League (WCL)
Corvallis Knights News Release

The Corvallis Knights have signed junior left-handed pitcher Brady Williams of Central Michigan University for the 2015 season. He is the team's first Chippewa.

A 6-foot-4 graduate of Ridgefield High School in Ridgefield, Wash., Williams pitched at Linn-Benton in 2013 and then moved north to Chemeketa CC in 2014 after LBCC dropped its (since re-instated) program.

Williams was 5-2, 2.42 in 11 games at Chemeketa in 2014, with 37 strikeouts in 48.1 innings. He was 1-0, 3.21 in nine games at LBCC in 2013, with 17 strikeouts in 14 innings.

He is the third pitcher to sign with the Knights. Cal Poly's Slater Lee and Chaffey College's Merrick Patito, both sophomore right-handers, signed earlier this month. Patito is a returnee from 2014.

Lambert, Hawkins to Utah

Four-year Knights' pitching coach Connor Lambert, a Washington State letterman and grad, is returning to the Pacific-12 Conference as Utah's new Director of Baseball Operations at Utah.

He had been the pitching coach at Tacoma Community College the past three years. He will still be able to work with the Knights in the summer, as a director of operations is not an on-field coaching position.

Also, former Knights' pitching coach Jason Hawkins (2008), an Albany native, has moved to Utah to be the new associate head coach. He was at UC Santa Barbara.

Coaching changes in the WCL

The Klamath Falls Gems have hired Justin Barchus as their new heads coach. Barchus has been the head coach for Capital City Select, one of the premier college prep travel teams in the country, for the past seven seasons. He succeeds Mitch Karraker.

Cowlitz has hired assistant Grady Twiet of Lower Columbia College as its new head coach. He succeeds Tim Matz, who resigned after the 2014 season.

Walla Walla coach JC Biagi and pitching coach Mark Michaud have resigned. No successors were named.

Wenatchee has promoted pitching coach AJ Proszek to head coach to succeed Ed Knaggs, who stepped down after 14 seasons after the season.

Victoria has Graig Merritt as its new head coach. He succeeds Bob Miller, who resigned after a year as head coach and a season as co-head coach with Dennis Rogers of Riverside City College. It also hired Alex Adame as its new pitching coach.
