Celtics Sign Dazzle's Mikki Moore

GREENVILLE, S.C. (January 6, 2003) - The Boston Celtics announced today that they have signed Roanoke Dazzle center Mikki Moore to a 10-day contract, making him the fourth National Basketball Development League player called up to the NBA this season. The Dazzle in turn signed forward Gabe Muoneke to fill Moore's spot on the roster.

Also earning NBA callups from the NBDL this season have been Devin Brown from the Fayetteville Patriots to the San Antonio Spurs, Mike Wilks from the Huntsville Flight to the Atlanta Hawks and Bobby Simmons from the Mobile Revelers to the Washington Wizards.

Moore played in and started 19 games at Roanoke, averaging 15.0 points, 7.9 rebounds and 2.1 blocks in 33.7 minutes per game. He is currently ranked first in the NBDL in blocks, third in rebounds, eighth in scoring, tied for eighth in field goal percentage and 13th in free throw percentage.

Prior to playing with the Dazzle, Moore played with the Detroit Pistons for four seasons (1998-2002). In his 142 games with the club, he averaged 4..7 points and 3.4 rebounds. Moore also participated in training camps with the San Antonio Spurs in 2002 and the Minnesota Timberwolves in 1997.

The Celtics placed forward Ruben Wolkowyski on the Injured List. Wolkowyski is recovering from an appendectomy that took place on January 4, 2003.

Muoneke played 47 regular season games for the NBDL Columbus Riverdragons last season, averaging 17.1 points and 5.9 rebounds. He was an NBDL All-League honorable mention selection.
