Green Bay Rockers News Release
Green Bay, WI - The Green Bullfrogs made a splash in the local community in 2016, partnering with Cellcom, to come together for a great cause. For the first time this season, Cellcom and the Bullfrogs unveiled the K's for a Cause program. This seasons beneficiary was the Muscular Dystrophy Association. MDA's fundraising coordinator Heather Buchberger said the following, "We cannot thank the Bullfrogs and Cellcom enough for the support this season and creating a special moment for Devin with having him throw out the first pitch before a game." For each strike out at a home game by a Bullfrogs pitcher, ten dollars was donated to MDA. In total, Cellcom and the Bullfrogs raised $2,660 over the course of 36 home games.
When asked about her thoughts on this program, Cellcom's Director of Public Affairs said "The Green Bay Bullfrogs organization provides a fun family activity for our community and Cellcom is proud to be an ongoing supporter of the team. It was exciting for us to celebrate the team's success throughout the regular season with the K's for a Cause program and watch the donation add up for a great local non-profit."
In addition to the K's for a Cause program, Cellcom sponsored an alternate jersey that the Bullfrogs wore for home and road games during the 2015 and 2016 season. The jersey was designed by a local student through the Boys and Girls Club after school program. At the end of the season, these jerseys were auctioned off to fans. All proceeds went to the Boys and Girls Club. In total, the jersey auction raised $503.
The Bullfrogs raised an additional $10,000 for area charities in 2016. In addition to raising money, the Bullfrogs made over 500 charitable donations into the community. The Bullfrogs also continued growing its reading program in which 17 local schools participated in. Jeremiah, the Bullfrogs staff, and Bullfrogs players combined to make over 150 community appearances as well.
The Bullfrogs will continue to invest in the community. For any charitable or donation requests please email sieeria@greenbaybullfrogs.com.
