Brevard County Manatees News Release
(Viera, FL) The Brevard County Manatees are gearing up for a big Independence Day weekend at Space Coast Stadium. They will be hosting the rival Daytona Cubs this Friday and Saturday, July 3-4. Each game will feature a large postgame fireworks show, along with tributes to local veterans and current military personnel. Anyone with a military ID or veteran's organization membership card will receive up to four tickets at the special price of $3. Those dressed in uniform will receive free admission (still $3 for family members). Both games start at 7:05pm, with gates opening at 6:00pm.
The July 3 game is also Lou Gehrig Night, presented by the ALS Association Florida chapter - an organization dedicated to fighting Lou Gehrig's Disease. Raffle tickets, T-shirts, and wristbands will be available at the ALS Association's table located on the main concourse. Proceeds will benefit the fight against Lou Gehrig's disease, and support all those who are fighting the disease.
This two-game series is part of the I-95 Battle for the Roadside Trophy rivalry series, held annually between the Manatees and the Cubs. The two teams are separated by just a 66-mile stretch of I-95. This year's series is currently deadlocked at 4-4, but Brevard County has momentum on its side after winning the last three games in the series, April 28-30 in Daytona. The Manatees are looking to bring the trophy back to Viera, after Daytona won last year's series, 11-9.
