The RoughRiders went 1-2-0 last week. A 5-2 loss last Tuesday in Omaha ended the Riders' three game winning streak and a run of seven games (6-0-1) without a regulation loss. The Riders split a home-and-home series with the Waterloo Black Hawks over the weekend. The Riders won 7-4 Friday night in Cedar Rapids before falling 5-3 one night later in Waterloo.
The Riders remain one point ahead of the Black Hawks in the race for first place in the United States Hockey League's East Division. The Hawks do have two games in hand on the Riders.

The Riders' Jacob Cepis (31-37-68) tied of the RoughRiders' single season goal scoring record with a shorthanded empty net goal in last Friday's win. Cepis leads the league in goals, is tied for third in points and is tied for tenth in points
The Riders will return home Saturday night having won seven straight games at the Cedar Rapids Ice Arena.
The Steel split a home-and-home series with Ohio last weekend. The Steel won 5-2 last Friday at home before falling 3-2 one night later in Columbus.
Chicago remains in last place overall in the USHL. With last Friday's win the Steel ended a four game losing streak. Chicago has gone just 2-7-0 in its last nine games.
The Steel has gone 7-23-1 since Steve Poapst took over the head coaching reins from Chris Imes in December.
The Steel gives up a league-high average of 4.2 goals per game. Chicago scores 2.5 goals per outing, second fewest in the league.
Former Rider Andy Miele- who came over to the Steel along with goaltender Pat McGann in the November trade that brought goaltender Richard Bachman to Cedar Rapids- has scored 11 goals and collected 35 points with Chicago and has totaled 18 goals and 50 points overall this season.
Sean Dolan (18-18-36) has produced more goals and points in a Chicago uniform than any other player this season.

The Gamblers have gone just 2-5-0 in their last seven games.
The Gamblers are one of just two teams who have a poorer home record (10-14-3) than road record (12-13-3). Green Bay has, however, won four of its last five home games.
Adam Avramenko has been a workhorse in goal for the Gamblers. He ranks second in the league in minutes played (2683:56). Avramenko could not have been any busier in last Friday's win at Sioux City as he made a league season high 70 saves, including a remarkable 35 stops in the first period alone.
Segio Somma (30-14-44) is tied for second in the league in goals. Steve Silva (19-33-52) is Green Bay's top point producer.
Derrick LaPoint (13-35-48) ranks second among defensemen in points and is tied for second among blue liners in goals.
The Ice was swept at Tri-City last weekend. Indiana fell 7-2 last Friday and 4-3 last Saturday.
Indiana has gone just 4-8-0 in its last dozen games and 6-11-1 in its last 18 outings.
The Ice is two games over .500 despite having been outscored by 31 goals (202-171) this season.
The Ice's Garret Roe (23-37-60) and John Kemp (15-45-60) are tied for ninth in the league in point scoring. Kemp is tied for second in assists while Roe is tied for ninth in the same category.
Indiana is the most penalized team in the USHL. Ice players spend an average of 29.6 minutes per game in the box.

COACHES
Cedar Rapids
Mark Carlson, 8th year (252-176-41)
Mark Carlson has been the RoughRiders' coach since the team arrived in Cedar Rapids in 1999. In 2005-06 he led the Riders to their second straight East Division title.
He has also piloted the Riders to six straight winning seasons and six straight Clark Cup playoff berths. The Riders are one of just two USHL teams to have reached the postseason each of the last six years.
The Riders are the only team to have advanced at least as far as the Clark Cup semi-finals/East Division finals each of the last two springs and four of the last five years. On December 3, 2005 Carlson picked up his two hundredth career coaching win as the Riders defeated Omaha 2-1 in a shootout. Carlson's RoughRiders went 218-159-38 in his first seven seasons with the club.
The high point of his tenure was leading the RoughRiders to the first Clark Cup (playoff) title in team history along with a share of the Anderson Cup regular season title and the East Division title in 2004-05. The Riders went 42-13-5 during the regular season- the best record in club history- and swept through the first two rounds of the playoffs before defeating Sioux City three games to two in the finals. For his efforts, Carlson was named the 2004-05 USHL Coach of the Year.
Carlson, a native of Lawrenceville, New Jersey, is a graduate of the University of Massachusetts-Lowell where he earned a B.S. in Business Administration and Marketing. Also while at Lowell, Carlson skated in the highly competitive Hockey East conference as a forward on the River Hawks' hockey team. His on-ice talent was recognized even before he arrived in Lowell when he was taken in the 1987 National Hockey League draft by the Pittsburgh Penguins.
After graduating from UML, Carlson spent one season as an assistant coach at Lawrenceville School before returning to Lowell to serve as an assistant to head coach Bruce Crowder. After helping the River Hawks to a berth in the 1996 NCAA tournament, Carlson spent another three seasons beside Crowder as an assistant at Northeastern University in Boston, where he also acted as recruiting coordinator. He earned a master's degree in education from N.U.
During his time at N.U. Carlson also acted as recruiting coordinator. Among those he recruited for the Huskies were Jim Fahey, who now skates for the National Hockey League's San Jose Sharks, and Mike Ryan, who would later be the top draft pick of the NHL's Dallas Stars.
Chicago
Steve Poapst, 1st year (7-23-1)
Steve Poapst replaced Chris Imes as Steel head coach on December 26, 2006. Poapst spent eight seasons in the National Hockey League as defenseman. He played a total of 307 NHL games for four teams- the Washington Capitals, Chicago Black Hawks, Pittsburgh Penguins and St. Louis Blues.
The Cornwall, Ontario, native played college hockey at Colgate from 1987 through 1991.
Green Bay
Mark Mazzoleni, 3rd year (73-92-11)
Mark Mazzoleni is in his third year in charge of the Gamblers. Last season he piloted Green Bay to the club's first Clark Cup playoff berth in three years.
Mazzoleni took over the Gamblers after spending 16 years as a collegiate head coach, the last five at Harvard. Mazzoleni went 82-72-13 behind the Harvard bench, leading the Crimson to three NCAA tournament berths and two Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference tournament titles.
Prior to taking over at Harvard, Mazzoleni spent five years at Miami (Ohio) University, where he piloted the Red Hawks to an 85-83-20 record and the second NCAA tournament berth in school history.
The vastly experienced Mazzoleni began his coaching career as an assistant at the University of Illinois-Chicago (1980-85). His first head coaching job was at Division III Wisconsin-Stevens Points (1986-91) where he piloted the Pointers to three straight national titles. Mazzoleni next spent three years as assistant coach and recruiting coordinator at the University of Minnesota (1991-94).
In his playing days, Mazzoleni was a goaltender at Michigan State from 1976 to 1980.
Indiana
Jack Bowkus, 2nd year (38-35-1)
Jack Bowkus replaced Dean Grillo as Indiana head coach on January 25, 2006 and guided the Ice to a 12-11-1 record and a berth in the 2006 Clark Cup playoffs. Bowkus joined the Indiana staff at the start of the 2005-06 season as an assistant after coaching in the California Wave youth program for eight years. As a player, Bowkus skated briefly for the USHL's Sioux City Musketeers before spending four seasons (1984-88) with the Saskatoon Blades of the major junior Western Hockey League.
HISTORY
Jacob Cepis has tied the RoughRiders single season goal scoring record. Cepis scored his thirty-first goal of the season in last Friday's win over Waterloo to equal the mark set by Chad Costello last season.
The Riders have gone 20-8-0 at the Cedar Rapids Ice Arena this season and have matched the team record for most home victories in one season. Cedar Rapids won 20 games in a 32-game home schedule in 2000-01. The Riders have broken the club record for most wins in 30-game home schedule. The old record of 19 was set in 2001-02.
Cedar Rapids' March 20 win at Chicago was the two hundred fiftieth regular season victory in RoughRider history and likewise, the two hundred fiftieth of Rider boss Mark Carlson's USHL coaching career.
The Riders reached 70 points for a fourth straight season and for the fifth time in the last six years.
This is the Riders' fourth straight 30-win campaign and also the sixth time in the last seven years that the Riders have picked up at least 30 victories.
Robin Bergman has set a new team record for most power play goals in one season (17). Bergman has surpassed the old mark of 14 set by Phil Axtell last year.
Pat Cannone scored the Riders' team record-setting twelfth shorthanded goal of the season in March 17 win over Ohio. The old record of 11 shorthanded goals was originally set in 1999-2000.
Aaron Bogosian has scored four shorthanded goals to break the team record originally set by Brandon Svendsen. Svendsen scored three times while shorthanded in 2004-05.
The Riders went 42-13-5 on the road over the last two seasons combined. The Riders' road record was superior to their home record both last season season and in 2004-05.
The Riders are, along with the Omaha Lancers, one of just two teams who have reached the playoffs each of the last six years. As all 12 USHL teams will qualify for the postseason this year, that streak will be stretch to seven consecutive playoff berths in April.
The Riders are the only USHL team to advance at least as far as the division finals each of the last two years. Furthermore, Cedar Rapids is also the only team to reach the league's final four in four of the last five years. Only one team (Sioux City) has even reached the second round three times in the last five years.
This is the Steel's fifth season in Chicago. The club moved from North Dakota in 2000 after spending four years as the Fargo-Moorhead Ice Sharks.
The Gamblers were swept in three straight games by the Des Moines Buccaneers in the first round of last spring's Clark Cup playoffs. That postseason appearance was Green Bay's first in four years. Prior to last year, Green Bay last appeared in the playoffs in 2001-02. The Gamblers also won what was then their fourth straight East Division title in 2001-02.
Green Bay has twice claimed each of the Clark Cup (1996 and 2000), Anderson Cup (1996 and 1997), and junior A national titles (1996 and 1997).
The Ice moved to Indiana from Danville following the 2003-04 season.
The Riders eliminated Indiana in the first round of the Clark Cup playoffs in both 2005 and 2006.
