Cecil Fielder, Redfish To Hold Baseball Camp

August 1, 2007 - South Coast League (SCL)
Charlotte County Redfish News Release

If you haven't heard, home run legend and World Series Champion Cecil Fielder is now living right here in Charlotte County and managing the Charlotte County Redfish Baseball Team.

Fielder and the Redfish players will be holding a baseball camp on August 6 and 7 for kids ages 5 to 12 at the Charlotte County Sports Park. The cost of the camp is $100, with a 20% discount for members of the Redfish Kid's Club.

"This is a great opportunity for kids to receive instruction from a member of baseball's Elite 50 Home Run Club," said Redfish General Manager Steven Tricarico. "Cecil has an abundance knowledge about the game, and kids who attend our camp will not be disappointed."

The camp will begin at 8:30 on both mornings and will end at 12:30. Breakfast will be provided by Dunkin' Donuts and lunch will be provided by the Redfish staff.

Along with breakfast and lunch, campers will receive professional instruction from Fielder and the Redfish players, an official Redfish Camp t-shirt, an inaugural year Redfish program, and a ticket to the Redfish game on each day of the camp.

"I feel like I've learned a lot during my time in the minor leagues and from working with big leaguers like Cecil," said Redfish Infielder Josh Murray. "I like working with kids and giving back to the community, and I feel like I have a lot to offer, so I'm looking forward to the Redfish Baseball Camp."

Due to dual rain outs on Tuesday and Wednesday of this week, the Redfish will play double headers on both Monday, Aug. 6 and Tuesday, Aug. 7. Games are scheduled to begin at 5:05 pm. Monday is Custom Car Expo and Tuesday is Teacher Appreciation Night.
