Ceballos Sent to DL; Mitchell Promoted to Jax

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - The Jacksonville Suns, Double-A minor league affiliate of the Miami Marlins, announced today that C Jose Ceballos has been sent to the DL in a move retroactive to Monday April 23, 2012. In a corresponding roster move, INF Russell Mitchell has been promoted from Jamestown to Jacksonville. Mitchell is available for Wednesday's contest in Jacksonville, Fla.
Ceballos, only had one plate appearance for Jacksonville before moving to the DL with a left knee LCL sprain. Ceballos is on the 7-day DL.
Mitchell, who played for the Jacksonville Suns in 2008 with the Los Angeles Dodgers organization, batted .264 with 16 homeruns and 75 runs batted in with Jacksonville. Mitchell began the 2012 season with the Jamestown Jammers. Mitchell was acquired by the Marlins on April 18, 2012 as a minor league free agent. Mitchell will be assigned a number upon arrival in Jacksonville.
