Great Lakes Storm News Release
Birch Run, MI (November 3, 2004) â The Great Lakes Storm will open up the 2004-05 season on Friday night when they visit the newest member of the CBA, the Michigan Mayhem. Coach Bergman and his staff have been working hard the last couple of weeks during training camp, trying to find the best ten players to field a team. "On the first day of training camp I told the players that when it's time to make the final cuts, I'm not cutting them, they're cutting themselves," said Coach Bergman. "The coach can only go by what he sees on the floor, and if you take it easy for even a few moments, it may cost you a spot on this team."
When the final roster is announced on Wednesday, November 17th, don't be surprised to see several players that grew up playing basketball in the state of Michigan. Players on the current training camp roster that were born in Michigan are Reggie Butler (Detroit, MI), Jamel Gooding (Pontiac, MI), Paul Haynes (Pontiac, MI), and Trevor Huffman (Flint, MI). When the Storm comes out on the floor for their home opener on Saturday night, it will be nice for the home crowd to cheer on their fellow Michigan natives.
