
CBA Announces Slam Dunk and Long Distance Shootout Competitors for 22nd All-Star Classic

Boise, ID (January 11, 2006) - The Continental Basketball Association announced today the contestants for the upcoming Hopkins Financial Slam Dunk Competition and Long Distance Shootout, to take place at 6 p.m. (MT), Tuesday, Jan. 17, in Qwest Arena as part of the 22nd CBA All-Star Classic.
The annual Slam Dunk Competition is an opportunity for the CBA's finest high-flying athletes to show off their aerial assaults on the hardwood. Competing in the event, which is being sponsored by Hopkins Financial, are; Alpha Bangura (Idaho), Cheyne Gadson (Yakama), Stephen Graham (Sioux Falls), Elvin Mims (Yakama), Carl Mitchell (Albany), and Jamario Moon (Albany).
Graham, a rookie out of Oklahoma State, has already been called-up to the NBA this season by the Houston Rockets. Bangura was recently traded to Idaho and leads the league with a 30.1 scoring average. Moon signed with Albany in late December and is known throughout the basketball world for his athleticism and high-flying ability.
In the Long Distance Shootout, participants will ready, aim and FIRE from behind the 3-point arc in hopes of claiming the title as the CBA's best sharpshooter. Competing in this event on Tuesday are; Antwain Barbour (Yakama), Jimmie "Snap" Hunter (Gary), David Jackson (Idaho), Jamario Moon (Albany), T.J. Thompson (Albany), and Ricky Sanchez (Idaho).
Thompson (78), Jackson (64) and Barbour (56) are one-two-three in the CBA for 3-point field goals made, while Hunter has already proven himself once, winning the title in 2004.
Following the fireworks of the Slam Dunk and Long Distance Shootout Competitions, the CBA All-Star Game will take place at 7:15 p.m., exhibiting even more showmanship of the CBA's finest. After the All-Star Game, there will be a free autograph session for all fans on the floor of the Qwest Arena.
Doors to the Qwest Arena open at 5 p.m. (MT). Tickets are still available ($7, $11, and $17) and can be purchased by calling the Stampede office at (208) 388-4667 or the Qwest Arena ticket office at (208) 331-8497.
