Lawton-Fort Sill Cavalry News Release
LAWTON, OKLA- Oklahoma Cavalry's Assistant Coach Greg Minor and Forward Adam Spanich visited Empire Junior High School Tuesday February 26, 2008, where they spoke to kids in the seventh, eighth, and grades about eating healthy, making good decisions, setting goals, and staying away from drugs and alcohol.
Coach Minor started by telling the students the importance of staying in school and how valuable good decisions can be. Spanich continued the presentation by talking to the kids about a healthy diet and the difference it can make in your performance as an athlete. Spanich and Minor made a tag team effort while speaking about staying away from drugs and alcohol.
After the players finished speaking they opened the floor for questions and answers. The students asked questions wondering who the tallest player they had played against and who their toughest competition has been to this point. Students lined up after they had asked their questions to get a quick autograph from the guys before heading home for the day.
Empire High School Principal, Mr. Grider, said he was pleased the guys came out to speak to the kids. He continued to say that in the small communities they often get looked over for opportunities such as this. The kids really enjoyed having the guys and Mr. Grider welcomed them back at their earliest convenience.
The Cavs play at home Saturday March 8, 2008 at the Great Plains Coliseum at 7:30 pm against Albany.
