Cavs Sweep Miners, Move to 7-0

LAWTON, Okla. - The Lawton- Fort Sill Cavalry extended their win streak to seven games Sunday afternoon, beating the East Kentucky Miners 78-71.

Cavs forward Elvin Mims was on fire hitting a double-double for the second day in a row.

Mims led the game in scoring with 27 points and pulled down 10 rebounds. Mims was also flawless from the free throw line in the game.

Shawn Daniels, the Cavs center, had another double-double grabbing a game high 13 rebounds and putting up 12 points.

Cavs guard DeAnthony Bowden was a game changer after half-time. Bowden fought hard and put up 16 of his 18 points in the second half. Bowden generated an impressive 68 points in the series against the Miners.

Cavs forward Tim Ellis joined in the double-digit scoring, putting up 11 points and grabbing 9 rebounds.

The Cavs outrebounded the Miners, snatching 47 rebounds to the Miners 39. The Cavs also had 17 steals in the game.

Once again the Cavs proved to be a third quarter team, outscoring the Miners by 10 points and pulling to a two point lead to start the fourth quarter.

Fouls proved to be a problem in a physical series for both teams. The teams totaled 59 fouls the game. The Cavs were able to capitalize and made 23 of 37at the foul line.
