Lawton-Fort Sill Cavalry News Release
LAWTON, OKLA.-The Cavalry took to the floor against the Minot Sky Rockets for the first time of a 4 game series Monday night at the Great Plains Coliseum.
The game started with Daryan Selvy scoring the first bucket of his 15 points for the night. But for most of the night, the Cavs and Sky Rockets traded leads. The Cavalry's biggest lead of the night came in the second quarter leading 22-15.
The Sky Rockets lead in the beginning of the third quarter was tight only leading ahead by one, but the Cavs managed to come back to lead by 5 points with 5:25 left in the third to end the quarter 3 points behind.
Curtis Haywood and Daryan Selvy helped the Cavs come within 2 points in the fourth quarter with 2:13 left in the game.
Haywood was the score leader for the night chipping in 22 points, Marvin Phillips added 16, and Plummer scored 14.
Assistant Coach Greg Minor says the loss was due to 3 main problems. First, the team needs to limit turnovers. Second, the Cavs need to start rebound the basketball, and third they need to play smarter.
The Cavalry's record is now 9-11, but will get the chance to defend their court as they go to Minot for 2 games, and back to the Great Plains Coliseum Sunday, Jan. 20 at 4:05 p.m. to defend their home court against the Sky Rockets.
